Cable operators need media company’s channels to overcharge the working stiffs like you and me. Media companies need the cable operators to share subscription revenues to pay for their highly inefficient and archaic businesses. President of Comcast Stephen Burke actually says so himself. “The majority of profits for the big entertainment companies is from cable programming,” he tells The New York Times. “That stream is so important to every entertainment company that everybody is looking at that and saying, if we are not careful we could start to harm that model.

Comcast, Time Warner Team Up To Control TV On The Internet    You know… the newspaper industry was saying the same thing about 5-10 years ago.

Maybe you need to find a new model instead of trying to hang on to one that will clearly fail. This is just like the RIAA trying to force the DRM thing. Give it up…
